Knitting and Meditation
Saturday: 10:30 am to 12:00 pm
This workshop will be a combination of the calming rhythm of knitting with the power of a guided meditation with Tibetan singing bowls. Participants can bring any project on their needles, so it is open to all levels with no additional cost for materials or patterns. Gentle hand movements will be used to relax knitting hands.
Your Instructor: Mary Ann Gebhart began knitting at age seven and started yoga in her twenties. Yoga transformed her life while knitting becomes increasingly more meditative and calming as she feels the yarn fibers slip through her fingers. Mary Ann brought her love of color, texture, and weaving fabric to an exploration of machine knitting. At the Fashion Institute of Technology, Mary Ann explored geometric patterns using a hand operated Brother Knitting Machine. Mary Ann’s goal is to offer a line of knitwear using natural fibers such as Alpaca, Cashmere, Merino Wool, and Organic Cottons. An important distinction in the creation of Nahyat Designs is the quality of natural fibers.
