Basket Workshops

FiestaBasketFiesta Basket  – 3 hours

Description: Create a basket with a 5 x 5 square base and 6 1/2 tall.  Learn the Overs and Unders of a basic basket using Rattan reed in fun colors.

Things to Know:  Wear old clothes, bring an old towel, a 12″ruler, scissors, and a 1/4″ flat head screw driver.

Materials fee $10.00

GarlicBasketGarlic Basket – 90 minutes

Description:  Make 2 baskets, one for you and one for a gift. The basket will be 5 1/2 tall excluding handle.  Learn how to make a simple twined basket using rattan round reed.

Participants need to bring in cutters (scissors or shears) and a small towel.

“I have been a Basket Case since the 1980s. Ive made all types of baskets: Rattan (round reed and flat reed) Oak, Ash, Twined Wax Linen, Coiled, Paper, Natural Vines, Cattails and Pulled Warp Baskets.  Im all about color; almost all of my baskets have some color on them. In the early to mid 80s I had 2 sales reps who sold my baskets to stores in the New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania areas.
